In our practice of meditation we are coming into contact with our divine nature, the infinite aspect of life, of which are a part.

There are many, many methods of meditation—in our class on spiritual practices we learn that each of us may have a particular preference—ranging from stilling the mind and observing the breath, to walking meditation, chanting sacred names, or bringing mindful awareness of the simple joys of eating at each meal.

There are many paths to God within—the daily practice of some form of meditation is recommended for living our best life. The key is to choose a form that works for you and dedicate some time each day to your practice.

Quiet the mind, follow the breath, let go of the outside world for awhile and take some time for conscious communion with your sacred self.

Try this meditation from Thich Nhat Hanh:

With the in-breath, say silently: Breathing in, I calm my body and my mind.
On the out-breath, say silently: Breathing out, I smile.
With the in-breath, say silently: Living in the present moment,
On the out-breath, say silently: I know this is a wonderful moment.

Sit quietly for some moments and let the peace of this practice fill your heart.
